一属一種。本州及び沖縄本島から記録されている。ヨーロッパから記載され、インド及び日本に分布する。日本では本州及び沖縄本島から記録されている。日本では湿地の主にカヤスリグサ科から得られている。Thrips genus-groupに含まれ、前胸の腹側縫合線を欠くこと、触角第２節のMD刺毛を欠くことで他の属から識別できる。

It is monotypic genus. This species previously has been recorded from Honshu and Okinawa Island in Japan. It was described from Europe and is also distributed in India. In Japan, it is inhabiting Cyperaceae in the wet-land. This genus is a member of Thrips genus-group and can be distinguished from the other members by lacking mesothoracic sternopleural suture and MD setae on antennal segment II.
